History of the Museum

Clifton House, built in 1783, and its grounds were formerly the property of the Walker family who ran the Rotherham Ironworks.

The Walker Family

The Walker family was a pioneer of Rotherham industry. They were part of the new breed of business people who prospered as a result of the Industrial Revolution.
